Summer, Supercomputers, And STEM
From the hum of supercomputers and the chatter of young coders and seasoned scientists, Summer 2025 was buzzing with activity at TACC
This summer, a wave of visitors — more than 500 in all — toured TACC’s data center, home to Frontera, the fastest academic supercomputer in the United States. Visitors included participants from the Applied Parallel Programming course and the Machine Learning for Life Sciences Research workshop, each getting a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the supercomputing power driving scientific discovery.
The center welcomed students selected for the third U.S. NSF Leadership-Class Computing Facility Internship cohort and the new Frontera Computational Science Fellows, who joined the ranks of researchers pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
TACC made headlines hosting the 9th annual WeTeach_CS Summit in Austin. This year shattered attendance records with 700 educators, industry leaders, and advocates in the room.
Summer at TACC would not be complete without our signature camps. Code@TACC Robotics taught high school students to program autonomous cars, tackling real-world robotics and computer science challenges. Code@TACC BOTS AI introduced middle schoolers to Python by putting their code to the test in self-driving vehicles.
The end of summer brought the eighth annual TACC Symposium for Texas Researchers (TACCSTER). The event serves TACC’s user community from across Texas — the students, scientists, engineers, and scholars who use supercomputing resources to advance their research goals.
From scientists to interns to educators to curious young learners, Summer 2025 at TACC proved that innovation thrives when people come together to learn, explore, and imagine.
